The video

It's coat-blowing season at Gone to the Snow Dogs. The family takes the huskies outside and blows out their coats, and fur goes everywhere. In the description they call it "furnados," and say it shows "my full process" for managing a double coat. "Get a husky, they said. It'll be fun, they said!"

Meet the dog and the channel

Gone to the Snow Dogs is a husky family channel in Alpena, Michigan, according to the P.O. box on its site. Its About page says it's been making videos since 2009, and it had about 1.51 million subscribers when we checked in November 2026. This 2026 video features Eleanor ("chaotic energy") and Memphis, who gets a "senior spa treatment." Memphis first appears on the site's family page as the pup "from a family of Champion Bloodline Show Dogs." Long-time viewers have watched him grow from puppy to senior.

How it blew up

The video went up on May 9, 2026, and had about 484,000 views when we checked in November 2026. That's a lot in six months for a grooming video. Coat-blow videos peak every spring and fall, when owners all over the world suddenly need to know why their house is filling up with fur. We didn't find any press coverage.

Our take: this is the most accurate preview of coat-blow season you'll find. If this video stresses you out, a husky isn't your breed.

The husky science behind it

Huskies have a double coat: a dense, soft undercoat and longer, weather-resistant guard hairs. Twice a year, triggered mostly by changes in daylight and temperature, the undercoat "blows." It sheds in clumps over two or three weeks. A high-velocity dryer works because it pushes the loose undercoat out without cutting or pulling the guard hairs. Shaving doesn't stop shedding, and it can ruin the insulation that keeps a husky both warm and cool.

A practical tip

Do blow-outs outdoors, or in a garage, with the dog on a grooming loop or with a helper. Wear old clothes and put a hair net over the dryer intake. Follow up with an undercoat rake and a comb. Do it once or twice a week while the coat is blowing, and your vacuum will thank you.
