Husky dog EXTREME Grooming Makeover: 6 Hour Transformation! 😳

Video by Girl With The Dogs 2 on YouTube · Watch on YouTube. Local Husky isn't affiliated with this channel.

The video

A heavily coated husky-type dog gets the full spa treatment, and the title says it took six hours. That's not an exaggeration. A coat this dense, especially with mats, takes hours to bathe, condition, blow out and brush. The video runs almost 29 minutes, and the before-and-after is the whole draw.

Meet the dog and the channel

Girl With The Dogs 2 is the second channel of Girl With The Dogs, the brand of groomer Vanessa De Prophetis. GreaterGood reports that she owns Perfect Pooches Dog Grooming in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and the same video is posted on the Perfect Pooches Facebook page. The second channel had about 1.75 million subscribers when we checked in November 2026, and the main channel about 3.5 million. Her video descriptions also promote a fundraiser for Happy's Place senior dog rescue and a grooming course for pet owners. One note: we couldn't confirm the dog's name or age from a source we trust, so we've left them out. [Flagged for review.]

How it blew up

The video went up on March 16, 2024, and had about 6.3 million views when we checked in November 2026. Grooming transformations are a huge genre on YouTube: the dogs are cute, the process is satisfying, and you get a reveal at the end. Girl With The Dogs is one of the genre's biggest names, partly because Vanessa narrates the dogs' complaints so well. We didn't find any press coverage of this particular groom.

The husky science behind it

Huskies and malamutes have a double coat: a dense, woolly undercoat under longer guard hairs. The undercoat "blows" (sheds heavily) about twice a year. If nobody brushes it out, the loose fluff packs down into mats close to the skin, trapping moisture and heat. That's why neglected northern-breed coats take hours, and why shaving them is a last resort, not a shortcut. A shaved double coat can grow back patchy or uneven.

A practical tip

During coat blow, brush two or three times a week with an undercoat rake and a slicker brush. Work in sections from the skin outward, and finish with a comb so you know you've actually reached the base. If the comb snags, you aren't done yet. A professional de-shed once a season costs less than a six-hour rescue groom.
